Children in Kent and Medway who walk to school are all set to become record-breakers.
Pupils taking part in the KM Walk to School schemes Walk on Wednesday and Walking Bug are on course to take 151,000 cars off the road.
Long serving walking bus sponsor Ringway joined an event to celebrate the news and to announce they are stepping up their support by backing WOW and Walking Bug.
John Martin from the company said: “Our staff are keen to support their local community and KM walk to school is a great way to do this.
“We are delighted to increase our support of these initiatives by sponsoring WOW and Walking Bug as well as the walking bus.
Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team, which runs the walk to school projects, said: “There is still time for schools to sign up for WOW and Walking Bug.
“Packs are now being sent out for schemes to start in the Autumn.
“I would urge schools to sign up and make a difference to our environment and children’s lives.”
The deadline for schools to sign up for the WOW and Walking Bug is July 8. For more information phone 08442 640292.
As well as the KM Group, WOW and Walking Bug, which are KCC and Medway Council-led initiatives, are sponsored by Bel UK (Mini Babybel) Volker Highways, Ringway, Eurostar, Leeds Castle and the Powell Cotton Museum Quex House and Gardens.
