Primary schools from Tonbridge and Malling across the district have been recognised for their commitment to improving the environment by removing car journeys from the road.
They were presented with certificates for their efforts at the KM Walk to School Awards at the Ramada Maidstone Hotel, where the special guest was conservationist and botanist, professor David Bellamy.
Ightham Primary not only took the title of Top Walking Bus Team for the Maidstone, Tonbridge and Malling area but were the overall Kent winners.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team, which runs the walk to school schemes, said: “This team stands out thanks to initiatives like the snow line contact list of volunteers and the invaluable roles played by parent helper Jenny Elliott and the head teacher June Cooke.”
The Top Established Walking Bus for this area was Leybourne St Peter and St Paul Primary.
Mr Dolby said: “Responsible children who care for each other and proactive playground recruitment have played a huge part in the success of this bus.”
West Malling Primary was chosen as the Top New Walking Bus, having successfully re-introduced walking to school, with sessions three mornings a week.
“A bonus has been the support of the head teacher Darren Webb, who regularly joins children and parents to walk to school,” added Mr Dolby.
The awards were supported by Ground:zero Productions, the Ramada Maidstone Hotel, Veolia Environmental Services, and D.Isom Printers.
KM Walk to School schemes are KCC and Medway Council-led initiatives and are sponsored by Denne, Bel UK (Mini Babybel), Ringway, Veolia, Eurostar, The Co-operative, Southern Water and P&0 Ferries.
